OPeNDAP allows one to give a application a url and have it directly download data. To read this data into matlab use 
loaddap('http://213.55.84.78:8082/SOURCES/.Indices/.nino/EXTENDED+.NINO34/yearly-climatology/T+integral/T/%28days%20since%201960-01-01%29streamgridunitconvert/dods')
